A drama film. Based on a true story. 134 minutes. Directed by Neill Blomkamp. Starring Archie Madekwe. David Harbour and Orlando Bloom acted.

It follows a gamer of Gran Turismo, a racing simulation game, who will be a professional racer.

I watched it at a theater because I was intrigued by the true story like manga about a common person and gamer to join a real car race and obtain a professional license. I was attracted until the end by the stylish picture avoiding waste, which realistically depicts the young gamer Jann Mardenborough who is put through the mill by his trainer, Jack, trains to build up his physical strength as a car racer, survives the ordeal, finally becomes a professional, accidentally causes a car crash in a race and almost gives up. Madekwe was unfamiliar and not peculiar, so I could more focus on the tale of the real Jann Mardenborough. As for the actors. I loved David Harbour as the tough trainer, Jack, though Orlando Bloom also has a presence. My eyes were caught by how the rugged Jack enthusiastically teaches and strongly encourages Jann with affection entrusting the dream that the trainer could not achieve when he was a racer to the young man. I was fascinated by the air that Harbour can create.

Although Ford v Ferrari touched me more, yet the success story intrigued me.

グランツーリスモ

レーシングシミュレーションゲーム、グランツーリスモのゲーマーがプロのレーサーになるお話。

一般人のゲーマーが実際のレースに挑戦してプロのライセンスを獲得するという漫画のような実話に興味が湧き観覧。ゲーマーだった若いヤン・マーデンブローの、トレーナーのジャックにしごかれながら、レーサーとしての体力を身に付けつけるべく体を鍛えつつ数々の試練を乗り越えてプロにはなれたものの、その後、クラッシュ事故を起こして挫折しかけるといった姿が、無駄を省いたスタイリッシュな映像でリアルに描かれていて、最後まで惹きつけられた。ヤン役のアーチー・マデクウィが有名ではなくて癖のある俳優でも無かったので、実在するヤンの物語に集中できたのもよかった。役者の中で好感が持てたのは、オーランド・ブルームも存在感はあったが、やはり、鬼トレーナーのジャックを演じたデヴィッド・ハーバー。レーサー時代に叶えることが出来なかった夢をヤンに託した、武骨な男ならではの愛ある熱血指導や叱咤激励をする姿にずっと目を奪われた。彼だから醸し出せる雰囲気に酔いしれた。

『フォードｖｓフェラーリ』ほどの感動とまではいかなかったものの、面白いサクセスストーリーだった。 

Barbie

It follows a stereotypical Barbie, who is happily living in the fantasy world, Barbieland, suddenly thinks about death, goes to the real world and knows about the truth.

I was born to my mother always complaining that women are at a disadvantage and my father occasionally shouting that you will shut your mouth, woman and boys, so I have been kind of sensitive to sexual discrimination. Although I thought that I did not like Ms. Yoko Tajima who my mother admired and who I thought of as interesting but dubious, yet I have started to realize that the discrimination has changed in the United States little by little after I saw Bombshell and Promising Young Woman some years ago. As well as Olivia Wilde, the director of Don't Worry Darling, Greta Gerwig, who directed Lady Bird, Little Women and Barbie, makes me ponder about the feminist movement. I do not like the film because it is a kind of fantasy fiction and has a lot of pink. All the same, I agree with Gerwing's remarks about the men's groundless confidence.

As for the actors, the lead, Margot Robbie, was really pretty and fascinating, moreover, she gave a wonderful performance as well as in the previous flick Babylon. She was always brilliant.

I had heard about the news of atomic bomb mushroom clouds appearing in it before I watched it, however, the clouds did not. Closely checking about the news, they were just depicted on a social network. It is a pity to stop seeing the movie due to the fuss, though we should not make light of antinuclear movements.

バービー

『バービー』

コメディ映画。114分。2023年公開。グレタ・ガーウィグ監督作。マーゴット・ロビー主演。

おもちゃの世界のバービーランドで楽しく生きていたバービーが、死について考え始めたのを機に現実世界に行って真実を悟るお話。

「女子供は黙ってろ」と怒鳴る父と、「男社会のこの国では女は損」とよく愚痴ったり嘆いたりしていた母の子供だったので性差別には割と敏感に育ってきた。そんな私には、母が敬愛していた田島陽子先生は、面白いけど何か従えないな、と思っていたが、ここ数年で観覧した『スキャンダル』や『プロミシング・ヤング・ウーマン』といった作品から、性差別もアメリカでは少しずつ変わり始めてきているのを感じ始めていた。そして、『レディ・バード』、『ストーリー・オブ・マイライフ』と本作を監督したグレタ・ガーウィグは、『ドント・ウォーリー・ダーリン』を監督したオリヴィア・ワイルド同様、女性解放問題について深く考えさせてくれる女性だ。本作は、ファンタジー物で色もピンク過ぎたので個人的には好みではないが、それでも、虚勢を張る男たちへの彼女の意見には共感した。

出演者に関しては、主演のマーゴット・ロビーが、前作の『バビロン』と同様に、本当に美しくて艶やかで演技もまた素晴らしかった。終始輝いていた。

公開前に耳にした原爆のきのこ雲は本編には現れず。観覧後に詳しく調べてみたらSNS上の話であった。反核の精神は忘れるべきではないが、あんな騒ぎで本作の観覧を止めるのはもったいない話だ。

A drama film based on a true story. 128 minutes. Released in 2013. Directed by Brian Helgeland. Starring Chadwick Boseman. Harrison Ford appears.

It follows Jackie Robinson who was bravely struggling to play in the 1947 Major League where the players were all white.

I felt as if it asked me what to do when a person who does nothing wrong are unreasonably attacked. Although some white baseball fans thought that discrimination is wrong and that everybody deserves the chance to play in the league, yet it was painful to watch most of them heaping abuse on Robinson. Now, many non-white players have become Major Leaguers thanks to Jackie Robinson's great achievement. I am deeply moved thinking that.

Chadwick Boseman gave a wonderful performance as Robinson, a man of pride and fortitude. I was really touched by how he continues to restrain his anger. Harrison Ford also played well the role of an MLB team owner who encouraged Robinson in adversity. It made me imagine that Harrison might have been in the similar situations in the film industry.

A wonderful baseball film. 

42～世界を変えた男～

『42～世界を変えた男～』

ドラマ映画。実話。128分。2013年公開。ブライアン・ヘルゲランド監督作。チャドウィック・ポーズマン主演。ハリソン・フォード出演。

白人だけでプレイされていた1947年の大リーグに黒人として果敢に挑んだジャッキー・ロビンソンの物語。

何も悪い事をしていない人が理不尽に攻撃されている時、君はどうする、と問われた気がした。中には差別を快く思っていなかったりチャンスは公平に与えられるべきだと思う白人たちもいたようだが、ロビンソンさんへの白人からの罵詈雑言は見ていて本当に辛かった。そんな彼の偉業のおかげで多くの白人ではない選手たちが大リーガーになっている事を思うと本当に感慨深い。

チャドウィック・ポーズマンが誇り高き不屈な男ロビンソンさんを好演。怒りを抑え続ける姿には本当に感動した。そして、ハリソン・フォードもまた耐えるロビンソンさんを励ます球団のオーナーを好演。あんな状況が映画業界でもあったんだろうな、と想像させられた。

素晴らしい野球映画。

Antebellum

A thriller. 106 minutes. Released in 2020. Directed and written by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz. Starring Janelle Monáe.

It deftly depicts discrimination that a part of white American people has persistently had against American African people since the times of slavery focusing on an African lady named Veronica.

The cold attitudes of white American female front clerk and waitress in a restaurant to Veronica performed by Janelle Monáe were so real that I felt that a sense of discrimination has been strongly rooted in the United States until now. I felt anew that I should be always fair to others. People have their likes and dislikes, so it cannot be helped to some extended, all the same, we must not discriminate with a full of prejudice.

I felt that Janelle Monáe was really pretty, though I did not think so watching Hidden Figures released in 2016. Speaking of stunners, Laura Harrier was beautiful in the 2018 film BlacKkKlansman directed by Spike Lee. I also believed that African women are really fascinating when African directors film.   

The thriller is mysterious and bold dealing with issues of racism.

アンテベラム

スリラー映画。106分。2020年公開。監督と脚本はジェラルド・ブッシュとクリストファー・レンツ。ジャネール・モネイ主演。

奴隷制度があった時代から続く、アメリカにおける一部の白人の黒人に対する強烈な差別意識がアフリカ系女性ヴェロニカを軸にしてトリッキーに描かれている。

ホテルのフロントやレストランのウエイトレスとして働く白人女性の、ジャネール・モネイ演じるヴェロニカへの冷たい態度がやたらリアルで、かの国ではまだ差別意識が今でも根強く残っていることが窺えた。そして、常に公平な目で周りを観るべきと改めて思った。好き嫌いは誰にでもあるからある程度は仕方がないが、やはり、偏見に満ちた差別はいけない。

2016年公開の『ドリーム』では全くそう思わなかったが、ジャネール・モネイが本当に美しい。そう言えば、2018年公開のスパイク・リー監督作の『ブラック・クランンズマン』に出ていたローラ・ハリアーも美しかった。アフリカ系の監督が撮るアフリカ系女性は本当に美しい、とも改めて思った。

人種差別問題を大胆に扱ったスリラー映画の怪作。

Sister Act

Sister Act

A comedy drama film. 100 minutes. Released in 1992. Directed by Emile Ardolino. Starring Whoopi Goldberg. She became a world-wide star in the blockbuster. Her debut work is The Color Purple directed by Steven Spielberg in 1985.

It follows Deloris, a lover of the boss of mafia and a singer in a small club. She witnesses the boss committing a murder, runs away from him, hides herself in a convent at the police's suggestion, becomes the director of the choir which has been poor and causes a sensation with the members in the local area.

Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris was wonderful and charming. Her performance fascinated me especially when she comes to get along with the nuns and confronts the strict Reverend Mother played by Maggie Smith, who is famous as Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter series. Then Harvey Keitel gave a steady performance as the boss.

Although it was a good movie, yet I could not come to like it that much maybe because I had expected that it would be as entertaining as The Blues Brothers.

天使にラブ・ソングを…

『天使にラブ・ソングを…』

コメディドラマ映画。100分。1992年公開。エミール・アルドリーノ監督作。1985年公開のスティーブン・スピルバーグ監督作『カラーパープル』でデビューした、ウーピー・ゴールドバーグ主演。彼女は本作の大ヒットで世界的に有名になった。

マフィアのボスの愛人で小さなクラブの歌手、デロリスが、そのマフィアのボス自らが人を殺めた現場を目撃したことで彼から追われ、警察の勧めで修道院に潜伏することになり、そこの下手くそな聖歌隊の指揮者を任されて、そのメンバーたちとその地域に一大旋風を巻き起こすお話。

デロリスを演じたウーピー・ゴールドバーグが面白くて素敵だった。尼さんたちと仲良くなっていく様や、『ハリー・ポッター』のマクゴナガル先生でお馴染みのマギー・スミス演じる、厳格な修道院長と対峙する様が印象的。ハーヴェイ・カイテルもそのマフィアのボス役で安定感のある演技を披露。

しかし、『ブルース・ブラザーズ』と同等の面白さを期待していたせいか、良作ではあると思うが、個人的にはあまりハマれなかった。

The Brave One

The Brave One

Suspense movie. 122 minutes. Released in 2007. Directed by Neil Jordan. Starring Jodie Foster.

It follows a woman who was fatally attacked by thugs at night and whose lover was killed at the time. After leaving the hospital, she illegally gets a pistol so as to protect herself and calm her heart and begins to execute hoodlums in the night town by the gun from a trigger.

Who can tell a person, whose lover was murdered by bad guys, not to retaliate them, especially if the lover's life is more precious to the person's one. Their term in prison cannot surpass the person's outburst. I felt like that after watching it. Jodie Foster gave a good performance as the woman Erica. The diminutive lady with a bob was adorable and brave when she aimed the gun. Then, she was pretty like in her thirties despite being in her middle forties when it was released. Moreover, I was touched by the relationship the African American detective and her.

It focused on the soul of Erica, made me think what is justice and is a good movie.

I did not like Death Wish starring Bruce Willis when I saw it for the first time some years ago, so several months later I first saw the original film starring Charles Bronson. The story says that a man privately executes punks in the night town after bad guys murdered his wife and mentally injured his daughter when he was out. Although I thought of it as old because it was filmed in 1974, yet I loved it as well as the this one.

 

ブレイブ ワン

サスペンス。122分。2007年公開。ニール・ジョーダン監督作。ジョディ・フォスター主演。

ある夜、暴漢に襲われて婚約者を殺され自身も瀕死の重傷を負った女性が、退院後、自衛と心の平穏の為に不法な手段で銃を手に入れて、その後、あるきっかけから街の悪者たちをその銃で退治し始めるお話。

愛する人を殺された方に復讐するなと誰が言えるのだろう。それがその方にとって自分の命よりも大事な人だったらなおさらだ。被害者の感情は刑の重さでは抑えられない。観賞後、そんな事を思った。ジョディ・フォスターがその女性エリカを好演。小柄で短髪な彼女が銃を構える姿が愛しくて凛々しかった。それに、公開当時は40代半ばのはずだが、まだ30代に見えて美しくもあった。そして、アフリカ系アメリカ人刑事との関係性にも胸が締め付けられた。

エリカの魂に焦点を当てた、正義とは何かを考えさせられた良作。

数年前に初観賞したブルース・ウィリス主演の『デス・ウィッシュ』があまり好きになれなかったので、そのオリジナル映画でもある、まだ未観だったチャールズ・ブロンソン主演の『狼よさらば』をその数か月後に観賞。自身の不在時に家でチンピラに愛妻を殺され愛娘も暴行された男が、その後、夜の町で街のならず者を私的に処刑するお話。1974年作なので時代を感じるが、本作と同じくらい好きだ。

Monster

Monster

A drama film. 126 minutes. Released in 2023. Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. Written by Yuji Sakamoto. Sakura Ando, Eita Nagayama and Soya Kurokawa mainly performed. The winner of screenplay prize at Cannes Film Festival.

It depicted the unusual life of an elementary school from the point of view of the mother of a student, a teacher and two students respectively.

I was kind of stunned and felt that Cannes liked it when the two boys show their true intentions in the last half after I enjoyed watching how the story goes thinking that it was natural that each person has its own point of view and doing why people, who used to be children, forget children's hearts. I was also disappointed because it depended differently from my expectations. Although the script wonderfully told me the case and let me think anew that I would stop prejudicing other persons in the latter half of it, yet the story did not impress me so much.

I have seen eight Kore-eda films. Still Walking and Our Little Sisters intrigued me, however, Nobody Knows, the winner of Best Actor Award at Canne Film Festival, and Shoplifters, the winner of Golden Palm at Canne, did not touch me so much, though their ideas were brilliant. The film Monster, the winner of Best Screenplay, was the same. Perhaps I do not like his ambitious films so much.

怪物

『怪物』

ドラマ映画。126分。2023年公開。是枝裕和監督作。坂本裕二脚本。安藤サクラ、永山瑛太、黒川想矢出演作。カンヌ映画祭脚本賞受賞。

生徒の母親、教師、二人の生徒のそれぞれの視点で描かれたとある小学校の非日常。

それぞれにそれぞれの視点があるのは当たり前、と思いつつ、また、元子供なのになぜ大人たちは子供の心を忘れてしまうのだろう、と思いながら物語の推移を楽しんでいたが、後半に差し掛かって少年たちの本音が見え始めた時、え？そっち？これがカンヌの好み？と思ってしまった。自分が予想していなかった展開に落胆もした。そして、後半から話の原因が分かるその脚本は素晴らしいと思ったし、他人を偏見の目で見るのは止めようと改めて思ったが、そのドラマ自体はそれほど心に響かなかった。

是枝監督作はこれまでに８本観賞。面白いと感じたのは『歩いても 歩いても』と『海街diary』。カンヌ映画祭主演男優賞を受賞した『誰も知らない』やパルムドールを受賞した『万引き家族』では、アイデアは素晴らしいと思ったが、感動しなかった。こんなもんか、と思った。そして、脚本賞を受賞した本作も同様だ。どうやら、私は彼の野心的な作品はそれほど好きではないようだ。

Aftersun

Aftersun

A drama film. 101 minutes. Released in 2022. Directed by Charlotte Wells. Starring Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio.

The memories of a 30-year-old father and his 11-year-old daughter who spent a summer at a resort.

I thought that it was like Somewhere, in which Elle Fanning acted, by the middle but I sit up straight feeling that I seriously must watch it when the father starts to run toward the sea at night. I felt bittersweet watching the father saying goodbye to his daughter and how the daughter remembers it when she becomes an adult. I also could not get out of the seat for a while after the credits ended. Afterwards, I somehow wanted to watch it again at a theater and do it around ten days after. My heart was wrung by the father jovially dancing to Under Pressure by David Bowie and Queen, the daughter charmingly clowning around at an airport and the daughter remembering it twenty years later. I was fascinated again.

After seeing it, I knew that the director, Charlotte Wells, filmed it based on her private experience. I was deeply impressed with it. An excellent work.

アフターサン

『アフターサン』

ドラマ映画。101分。2022年公開作。シャーロット・ウェルズ監督作。ポール・メスカルとフランキー・コリオのＷ主演。

30歳の父親と11歳の娘の避暑地における一夏の想い出。

初観賞時の前半までは、エル・ファニングが出ていた『SOMEWHERE』みたいな映画だな、と思っていたが、父親が夜の海に駆けだす場面で、これは少し違うな、と感じて襟を正した。ラストのお別れと、その光景を思い出していた、大人になった娘の姿に切なくなり、エンドロールが終わってもしばらく席を立てなかった。その後、どうしてももう一度観たくて約10日後に再観覧。終盤に流れ出すクイーンとデヴィッド・ボウイの合作曲「アンダー・プレッシャー」に合わせて楽しそうに踊る父、空港で無邪気におどけ続ける娘、そして、それを回想している20年後の娘の姿に胸が締め付けられた。再び心を持っていかれた。

観覧後、本作がシャーロット・ウェルズ監督の個人的な経験を元に製作された事を知り、深く感銘。秀作。

Fast X

An action movie. 141 minutes. Released in 2023. Directed by Louis Leterrier. Starring Vin Diesel. Michelle Rodriguez and Charlize Theron acted.

Although the previous film entertained me when I saw it at a theater, yet it was boring when I did it on the television set, so I thought that I would stop to watch the Fast series. However, I was dying to see it when I knew that the new flick was released and I went to a theater. It was fun after all. The movies are what I must watch at a theater. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and the villain Jason Momoa were wonderful. Moreover, Charlize Theron's action was brilliant.

The characters who seemed to die reappears in the series, so I suspect that the mother of Dominic's son would return with The Rock in the next one. The series like a festival. 

ワイルド・スピード 第10作

『ワイルド・スピード/ファイヤーブースト』

アクション映画。141分。2023年公開作。ルイ・レテリエ監督作。ヴィン・ディーゼル主演。ミシェル・ロドリゲス、シャーリーズ・セロン共演。

観覧した前作は面白かったが、TVで放映された時はつまらなく感じたので、『ワイルド・スピード』シリーズはもう卒業かな、と思ったが、本作が公開されると、やはり、どうしても気になって映画館に足を運んだ。そして、やはり面白かった。映画館で観る映画だ。今回は、ヴィン・ディーゼル、ミシェル・ロドリゲス、そして、敵役のジェイソン・モモアがカッコよかったが、シャーリーズ・セロンのアクションも面白かった。

死んだと思っていたキャラがよく再登場する作風なので、ドムの息子の母親も次作でロック様とともに再登場するのではと邪推している、お祭りのようなシリーズ。

Tár

Tár

A drama film. 158 minutes. Released in 2022. Directed and written by Todd field. Starring Cate Blanchett.

It follows Lydia Tár, the first female chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic and a composer.

I do not know much about classical music, so I could not understand some of the lines, however, I watched it twice at a theater because it is really entertaining. Cate Blanchett had a lot of mature female charm and appeared from the beginning to the end. The flick has many of the quiet scenes, however, I was fascinated by not only her but also the overall good atmosphere.

A conductor of an orchestra needs to be kind of arrogant. A female one struggling in a man's world does to be more. Lydia's arrogance seems to be proper but causes a tragedy. That makes a media circus and makes people bash her on the Internet. Lydia becomes isolated and loses herself. Her sociability is not perfect, so she might have responsibility. All the same, I was drawn by her humanity and thought that the society and people who must support her was disgraceful because they overreacted the remarks on the Net. Furthermore, I felt that her friends' jealousy and betrayal were unsightly. Then I was encouraged by how she continues to live with music after that.

Cate Blanchett sincerely gave a wonderful performance as Lydia Tár as if she was possessed. She seemed to perfectly devote herself to the role, so I understand that she implied her retirement after the filming feeling that she thought that she cannot play better than that.

The wonderful flick was filled with her attraction as not only an actor but also a woman.

TAR/ター

『TAR/ター』

ドラマ映画。158分。2022年公開作。トッド・フィールド脚本・監督作。ケイト・ブランシェット主演。

ベルリン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の女性初の首席指揮者であり作曲家でもある、リディア・ターの音楽家としての生き様が描かれている。

クラシックに詳しくないのでよく分からない言葉が多かったが、すごく面白くて、劇場で２回観覧した。リディアを演じた大人の女性の魅力たっぷりのケイト・ブランシェットが終始画面に登場。静かな場面が多くて、主演の彼女だけでなく、その全体的な雰囲気の良さにも魅せられた。

数十人の楽団を率いる指揮者にはある程度の傲慢さは必要だ。男社会で闘っている女性だったらなおさらだ。リディアの傲慢さもまた妥当に思えたが、それがある悲劇を生む。その事件がマスメディアやネット上でセンセーショナルに扱われ、彼女はバッシングを受けて孤独になって自分を見失う。完璧な社交性を持ち合わせていなかったリディアにも責任があるかもだが、私は、そんな彼女の人間臭さにも惹かれて、ネット上の言葉に過剰に反応する社会や彼女を支えるべき人たちの嫉妬や裏切りがとても醜く感じられた。そして、その後も音楽とともに生き続けた彼女の姿からは元気をもらった。

ケイト・ブランシェットが憑依しているかのごとくリディア・ターを真摯に好演。役柄に心身ともに没頭していたように感じたので、撮影後に引退をほのめかしたという話も、もうあれ以上の演技は出来ないと感じたのだろうと思えて、理解できた。

彼女の、俳優として、というよりも、女性としての魅力が詰まった、素晴らしい作品。

Moonage Daydream

Moonage Daydream

A documentary film. Released in 2022. 140 minutes. Directed by Brett Morgen. I saw it twice in the Imax theater of Toho Cinemas Nagareyama Ootakanomori and at Kinema Junpo Theater.

It depicts the life of the rock musician David Bowie mainly using his own music and words.

Bowie wearing an exotic and fashionable costume in the seventies had looked strange to me, for I had thought that girlish boys had mental disease when I was little. However, the documentary told me the fact that he actually had come out as bisexual and been struggling with social prejudice in those days. I got impressed that he was not only just a rock star but also a person of character. Honestly, I had been not interested in David Bowie until several years ago because I love rock bands like The Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols and Oasis better than solo artists. All the same, I had had his albums Let's Dance and Tonight. The duet "Tonight" with Tina Turner, who passed away last month, was my most favorite among the two albums. I had also thought that "Blue Jean" with a good beat was a signature piece for him for a long time. Although I did not listen to Let's Dance so many times because I did not like the singles "Let's Dance" and "Tonight" cut from the album, yet I regretted that I underestimated the album because though it was rather late, I realized the first song "Modern Love" was really awesome when I listened to it in the film Frances Ha which I watched several years ago. Then I was moved by the wonderful song "'Heroes'" at the end of the movie Jojo Rabbit that I saw at a theater. Afterward, I knew that the song was playing a part in the collapse of the Berlin Wall. I have listened to his other songs since then. His impression has increasingly changed in recent years, so the documentary was perfectly suitable for me.

Tears dropped from my eyes hearing the introduction of "'Heroes'" during watching it. His fans were mostly fashionable and cool. They looked like Bowie's alter ego. How they adored him told me how great Bowie was to them, so I felt ashamed that I could not realize how brilliant he was for a long time.

Moreover, I was pleased as a Japanese when I knew that as well as John Lennon and Freddie Mercury, he liked Japan.

It is a masterpiece of the documentary genre and filled with the cham of David Bowie as not only a performer like a singer and actor but also a human.

ロック・ミュージシャン、デヴィッド・ボウイの生涯が主に彼自身の言葉と音楽で語られている。

70年代の派手なファッションに身を包んだ彼は、ゲイが精神病だと思っていた、無知だった子供の私には奇異に映っていた。だが、彼が、当時、バイセクシャルである事を公表して社会の偏見と闘っていた事を本作で知り、彼がただの有名ロック・ミュージシャンではなく人格者だったことに感銘を受けた。ストーンズ、ピストルズ、オアシスといったロックバンドが好きなので、実は、数年前まで、ソロ・アーティストだったデヴィッド・ボウイにはあまり関心が無かった。それでも彼のアルバム『レッツ・ダンス』と『トゥナイト』は持っていた。その中で一番好きだった曲は、先月お亡くなりになったティナ・ターナーさんとのデュエット「トゥナイト」。そして、長い間、ノリのいい「ブルー・ジーン」が彼の代表曲だと思っていた。『レッツ・ダンス』に関しては、シングルカットされた同名曲と「チャイナ・ガール」が好きではなかったので、あまり聴いていなかったが、数年前に観賞した映画『フランシス・ハ』で使われていた一曲目の「モダン・ラブ」が凄くカッコいいことに遅まきながら気づいて、『レッツ・ダンス』を軽んじていた事を後悔した。その後、映画館で観た『ジョジョ・ラビット』のエンディング曲、「ヒーローズ」の素晴らしさにも感動。その曲がベルリンの壁崩壊に一役買っていたことも後で知って、彼の他の曲も聴き始め、彼への印象が大きく変わっていた昨今だったので、本作は、そんな私にはうってつけだった。

観覧中に涙したのは「ヒーローズ」のイントロが流れ出した時。彼のファンもまた皆ファッショナブルでカッコよくって、なんだかボウイの分身のように感じた。彼らの彼への崇拝ぶりは、彼の存在が彼らにとっていかに大きいのかを物語っていて、なぜ、長い間、彼の凄さに気づけなかったのかと改めて恥ずかしくなった。

また、ジョン・レノンやフレディ・マーキュリーと同じく、彼が日本に好感を持っていた事は、日本人として嬉しかった。

デヴィッド・ボウイの、歌手や役者といったパフォーマーとしてだけではなく、人としての魅力が詰まったドキュメンタリー映画の傑作。

Run

Run

A thriller film. Released in 2020 via streaming. Directed by Aneesh Chaganty. Starring Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen.

It follows Chloe who is the only child of a single mother named Diane, naturally physically disable, aiming to enter a college. Chloe struggles to get away from Diane after she have recognized the secrets which her mother had concealed.

Diane is giving off a threatening aura from the beginning. Her languishing and severe face reminded me of my mother who was way overprotected of me. I began to get irritated watching her, so I could instantly identify with Chloe who gradually begins to distrust Diane. Then I remembered when I despaired recognizing that the person whom I had thought of as the most reliable in the world was anything but that as I watched Chloe starting to be beset with doubts and fears, looking into various things behind Diane and recognizing the terrible facts. I felt deep pity, sincerely sympathized with her and mentally cheered her all my might. It was anyone else's business. However, I conversely cooled down a little, for I remembered that it is a fiction when the truth in her childhood becomes clear and it was far sadder than my trivial emotional damage in the past which is generally not unique.

The movie is continuously thrilling from the early stage to the final stage, full of a tense atmosphere to the end and good as a thriller one. The two leads always gave a wonderful performance. Moreover, it has become an unforgettable film because the story overlapped with a memory in my childhood.

RUN/ラン

『RUN/ラン』

スリラー映画。2020年に配信にて公開。アニーシュ・チャガンティ監督作。主演はサラ・ポールソンとキーラ・アレン。

大学進学を目指している、一人っ子で生まれつき足が不自由なクロエが、それまで自分を育ててくれたシングルマザーのダイアンが自分に隠し続けてきた秘密を知って、彼女から逃れるために奮闘するお話。

冒頭から不穏な雰囲気を漂わせていたダイアン。彼女の思い詰めたような険しい表情から、私に対して超過保護だった実の母親を連想。観ながら苛々し始めた。だから、徐々にダイアンに対して不信感を抱き始めたクロエにはすぐに感情移入できた。そして、疑心暗鬼になってダイアンに隠れて色々調べ始めて恐ろしい事実を知るクロエを観ながら、世界で一番信用できると思っていた人が実はそうではないと悟った時の絶望感を思い出して胸が苦しくなり、ダイアンと決別すべく奮闘する彼女に心から同情しつつ全力で応援した。他人事ではなかった。だが、一般的にはそれほど珍しくも無い私の些細な過去の心の傷を遥かに凌駕するクロエの哀しい生い立ちの全貌が明らかになった時、本作がフィクションである事を思い出して、逆に少し落ち着いた。

早い段階から終盤までハラハラドキドキの連続で最後まで緊張感が漲っているスリラーの良作。主演のお二人の演技は最初から最後まで素晴らしかった。そして、自分の少年時代の思い出とも重なったので忘れられない作品になった。

Babylon

Babylon

A drama movie. Released in 2022. Directed by Damien Chazelle. Starring Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. 

It depicts people who engaged in the film industry's transition from silent films to talking pictures.

I saw it for the first time at Movix Kameari in February 2023. Silent ones are so old that they look like actuality ones. I saw some Charlie Chaplin silent films. I did not like them. I am also not curious at unknown episodes and inside stories about filming that much, so I did not get interested in the film. All the same, Margot Robbie's close-up on the screen was overwhelmingly gorgeous. Moreover, I was impressed with the scene where the musical movie Singin' in the Rain was being played in a theater toward the end. When I saw the musical one The Wonderful Wizard of OZ released in 1939 some years ago, I just felt that it was good for an old flick, so I had lost my interest in the old one Singin' in the Rain. However, I came to desire to see the 1952 movie and first did it with the DVD disc because the song with the same title kept on ringing in my head for a while after I watched the Chazelle film. It was fun. It depicts the joys and sorrows of actors when the transition from silent ones to talkies, so it was also intriguing. Then I came to want to see the 2022 movie again and saw it at Toho Cinemas Nagareyama Ootakanomori in the next month.

The main characters, Jack and Nellie, were big stars in silent ones but they could not speak and act well in talkies. Although they were no longer popular, yet they continued to proudly live as movie stars. Their ways of life were not favorable, though they looked cooler than a man who begged for his life wetting his pants and survived. Brad Pitt gave a good performance as Jack who falls with his sadness from the lavish position of a dignified star. Margot Robbie passionately acted as Nellie who is excellent at playing emotionally because of her bad upbringing, bad at behaving elegantly so that she cannot get a good role in a talking film, and keeps on choosing to not have ordinary happiness but live as a star. Her ambitiousness and playfulness were mysterious and pretty in the orgiastic party before her debut. How she let her anger out looked highly delightful in the party that is filled with wealthy people.

I do not think that it is a masterpiece but I do that it is a good one which is full of love for movies.

バビロン

『バビロン』

ドラマ映画。2022年公開作。デイミアン・チャゼル監督作。主演はブラッド・ピットとマーゴット・ロビー。

無声映画からトーキーに変遷する映画界を生きた人々が描かれている。

2023年２月にMovix亀有にて初観賞。古すぎるので無声映画は記録映画に思えてしまう。チャップリンさんのサイレント映画を何作か観た際にはあまり好きにはなれなかった。その上、映画の撮影秘話や裏話にもあまり興味が無かったので、本作の初観賞時はあまり興味が湧かなかった。だが、スクリーンに映し出されたアップのマーゴット・ロビーの美しさには圧倒された。そして、本作終盤の映画館内の場面で上映されていたミュージカル映画『雨に唄えば』が印象に残った。数年前に1939年公開作のミュージカル映画『オズの魔法使い』を観た時は、古い映画の割には面白い、と感じただけだったので、同じく古いそのミュージカル作品への興味も薄れていたのだが、本作観賞後、その挿入歌「雨に唄えば」が頭から離れず、数日後、どうしても観たくなったのでDVDにて『雨に唄えば』を初観賞。面白かった。そして、映画がトーキーへ変遷する際の俳優たちの悲喜こもごもも描かれていてとても興味深かったため、本作をまた観たくなり、TOHOシネマズ 流山おおたかの森にて再観賞。

サイレント映画では大スターであったジャックとネリー。トーキーではセリフがなかなか上手く言えずに低迷するも、最期までスターであり続けた２人の生き様は決して褒められるものではなかったが、小便を漏らしながら命乞いをして何とか生き延びた男よりは粋だった。ブラッド・ピットが、煌びやかで貫禄のある大スターの座から哀愁を漂わせながら落ちぶれていくジャックを好演。そして、マーゴット・ロビーが、育ちがよくないせいで感情的な演技は得意だが、上品な振る舞いは苦手でトーキー映画では役を得ることが出来ない、それでも、平凡な幸せよりもスターとして生きる道を選び続けたネリーを熱演。デビュー前の乱痴気パーティでの野心家ぶり、はしゃぎぶりが妖しくて美しかった。金持ち連中とのパーティでのブチギレも痛快だ。

傑作とまでは思わないが、映画愛に満ちたなかなかの良作。

Ennio

Ennio

A documentary. Released in 2021. Directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. I saw it at Cine Switch Ginza for the first time in March 2023.

It depicts the life of a film score master, Ennio Morricone, making interviews with famous persons who knew Morricone.

I struggled against sleepiness in the first half, for it portrays the Italian musician's background and the old movies whose music he composed, though I was interested in Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen, who was really impressed by the music of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and the fact that the film director, Stanley Kubrick, had desired to work with him in A Clockwork Orange. My tears started to well up in the scene about Once Upon a Time in America. The scores are more fantastic than the acting of remarkable actors Robert De Niro and James Woods. Although the running time is about four hours, yet it will never bore me because of his music. The Mission was so serious that I had had not wanted to see it again. Now that I knew that Morrcone made the music, I like to do it again. I also want to see my favorite movie The Untouchables deliberately listening to the background music which he composed. As for Cinema Paradiso, unlike the people who praise it, I think that the character Alfredo is kind of egoistic. All the same, I love it because the melody is overwhelmingly beautiful throughout and makes my thoughts trivial. In the episode of U Turn, Oliver Stone relates with a laugh that the manager offended Morrcone when he asked the composer to watch and refer the animation movie Tom and Jerry. Anecdotes about unique persons are amusing.

The Italian had won five Academy nominations but not an Oscar before he received the Academy Honorary Award in 2006. He finally obtained an Oscar in The Hateful Eight directed by Quentin Tarantino and released in 2015. It took a long time considering his lengthy trance record. The ceremony was really touching. I cried at the glory moment when he won the award after he had kept on overcoming the wall of prejudice and envy. The great master's way of life with fortitude is extremely wonderful.

John Williams is also a giant of film music and one of the people who were interviewed about Morrcone. I was surprised that he was not only alive and but also never feeble, for he was still very famous when I was a child. He was 90 years old at the release. Morrcone passed away in 2020 at the age of 91 but he looks healthy in the motion picture. The secret of being healthy at any age must be to be active even if you get old.

モリコーネ

『モリコーネ 映画が恋した音楽家』

ドキュメンタリー映画。2021年公開。ジュゼッペ・トルナトーレ監督作。2023年３月にシネスイッチ銀座にて初観賞。

映画音楽の巨匠、エンニオ・モリコーネの生涯が著名人のインタビューを交えて描かれている。

前半は、イタリア人である彼の生い立ちや古い映画の話だったので、睡魔との闘いだった。『続・夕陽のガンマン』の音楽に感動したというブルース・スプリングスティーンと『時計仕掛けのオレンジ』を撮影していたスタンリー・キューブリックが彼と仕事をしたがっていたことが印象的。感動して目が潤み始めたのは『ワンス・アポン・ア・タイム・イン・アメリカ』の話から。ロバート・デ・ニーロやジェームズ・ウッドといった名優の演技以上に音楽が素晴らしい作品だ。約４時間にもかかわらず彼が作り上げた美しい曲たちのおかげで全く退屈しない。『ミッション』はシリアスな物語だったので再観賞する気はなかったが、彼が音楽を担当していたと知ってまた観賞したくなった。『アンタッチャブル』は好きな作品。再観賞時は音楽にもより耳を傾けよう。そして、『ニュー・シネマ・パラダイス』。名作として誉高いが、私には、アルフレードの行為が彼のエゴにも映る。だが、そんな事がどうでもいいと思えるほど、全編に流れる旋律が美しい。『Uターン』の話では、監督のオリバー・ストーンが、『トムとジェリー』を参考にしてほしい、と彼に言ったら怒られた、と笑いながら話していた。個性が強い方々の逸話は面白い。

2006年にアカデミー名誉賞が授けられるまで、その音楽賞に５度もノミネートされたにもかかわらずオスカーは獲得できなかった彼。クエンティン・タランティーノ監督作の2015年公開映画『ヘイトフル・エイト』でついにオスカーを獲得。長年の実績を考えると遅すぎる受賞。その授与式は本当に感動的だった。偏見や妬みをはねのけ続けて掴んだ栄光の瞬間に涙が零れた。巨匠の不屈の精神を体現した生き方が素敵すぎる。

同じく映画音楽の巨匠であるジョン・ウィリアムズさんもインタビューで彼について語っていた方々の一人だった。私が子供の頃から有名だったお方だったので、まだご存命だった事にまず驚いて、まだ全然枯れていない事にも驚いた。公開時90歳。モリコーネさんは2020年に91歳で他界されているが、本作でのお姿はお元気そうだった。高齢でも元気でいられる秘訣って、現役で有り続けることなんだろうな。

The Banshees of Inisherin

The Banshees of Inisherin

A tragicomedy film. Released in 2022. Directed by Martin McDonagh. Starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Kerry Condon also acted in it. I saw it at Toho Cinemas Yachiyo Midorigaoka in February 2023.

It depicts a strange friendship between a boring man and a male violinist in an isolated island of Ireland.

One day, suddenly, Pádraic's best friend, Colm, says that he will end a friendship with Pádraic. Watching Pádraic who wants to know the reason and persistently asks him about it, I got irritated because I remembered some men, who kept on talking to me even if I apparently ignored them. Then I wanted to tell Pádraic that there is no use talking to the person if a person gets beyond the limit of their patience and do him not to talk to Colm anymore. Colm ends a friendship with Pádraic because Pádraic is silly and boring. That is reasonable. Nevertheless, Pádraic keeps on talking to him. I finally wanted to say that that was enough. Then, Surprisingly, Colm makes an outrageous act. I could not understand and accept it. It was like an act in a horror movie. Although many film fans say that the flick itself is a metaphor, yet I will never like to think like that. I also will never be satisfied with the fact that it received a Best Picture Oscar nomination. I believe that She Said is far better than it, however, that did not receive the nomination. I would surely have started to doubt the reliability of the Academy Award if it had gotten the Oscar. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson gave wonderful performances as Pádraic and Colm respectively. What I did not like is the story. The other characters like a mean police officer, a vulgar priest and an eerie old lady increasingly made me hate the movie. The sole saving grace was the existence of Pádraic's beautiful sister and a reader, Siobhán. Her decency stood out in the island where much absurd things occurs. Honestly, I also thought of the actor, Kerry Condon, as Rebecca Ferguson during watching it. She was really pretty.

It might be good considering the popularity, all the same, it is not my favorite.

イニシェリン島の精霊

『イニシェリン島の精霊』

悲喜劇映画。2022年公開。マーティン・マクドナー監督作。コリン・ファレルとブレンダン・グリーソンのW主演。ケリー・コンドン出演。2023年２月にTOHOシネマズ八千代緑が丘にて観覧。

アイルランドの小さな孤島における、話が面白くない男とバイオリン好きな男の奇妙な友情物語。

ある日、突然、親友と思っていたコルムから絶縁宣言を受けたパードリック。理由を知りたくて執拗にコルムに話しかける彼を見ながら、分かりやすく無視しているにもかかわらず私にしつこく話しかけてきた輩たちを思い出して苛々した。我慢の限界を超えたらもう駄目なんだよ、もう話しかけるなよ、と彼に言いたくなった。彼が絶縁された理由は彼の話がつまらないから。退屈だから。妥当な理由だ。そう言われてもめげずに話しかけるパードリック。いい加減にしろよ、と言いたくなった時、コルムが理解に苦しむ愚行に出た。ホラーっぽい行動だったが、私には受け入れ難かった。作品自体がメタファーであると言うレビューを多々目にするが、そんな風に考える気は微塵にも起きない。本作よりも断然良いと感じる『シー・セッド』がノミネートされなかったアカデミー賞作品賞に本作がノミネートされていた事にも納得できなかった。オスカーまで獲得していたら、私のアカデミー賞への信頼度は確実に薄らいでいただろう。コリン・ファレルとブレンダン・グリーソンは演者としてパードリックとコルムをそれぞれ好演していたと思う。私が好きになれないのは物語自体だ。下衆な警官、俗な神父、不気味なおば様といったその他の登場人物が私の本作に対する嫌悪感に拍車をかけていた。唯一の救いは読書家で美しい、パードリックの妹、シボーンの存在。不条理がはびこるその島の中で彼女のまともさだけが際立っていた。演じたケリー・コンドンの事をずっとレベッカ・ファーガソンだとも思っていたが、とても綺麗な役者さんだ。

世間の評価を考えると良作なのであろうが、私の好みではない。

She Said

She Said

A drama film. Released in 2022. 135 minutes. Directed by Maria Schrader. Starring Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan. Based on the nonfiction book She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement published in 2019 and written by Jodi Kanor and Megan Twohey. I saw it in January and February 2023 at Movix Kameari.

It depicts two journalists at New York Times who struggled to accuse a film producer named Harvey Weinstein who had had a huge influence in the industry and had covered up many of his sexual crimes.

Before watching it, although Mulligan could have given a good performance as a young woman who retaliates against a rapist and his male and female followers in Promising Young Woman, yet I had doubted that the baby-faced Mulligan could really act the role of the journalist who confronts the great evil, however, it was just needless worries. She superbly expressed her graceful strength and boldness, not to mention her cuteness. She charmed me especially when the journalist played by her shouted the f-word several times to a guy who persistently tried to pick up the woman in a bar.

It depicts not a simple conflict between men and women but a struggle between the despicable man continuously defended by his male and female hangars-on using law and The New York Times which rises up against them in order to avenge the humiliation of the female victims including superstars like Ashley Judd and Gwyneth Paltrow who were sexually abused by the nasty guy. Supported by their husbands and bosses, Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor patiently continued to interview the victims and cover his crimes with fortitude. Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan gave dignified and fascinating performances as the two journalists. Then I felt catharsis when the "publish" button was finally clicked right after they and their bosses checked the article to accuse him on the computer display several times.

Samantha Morton also acted a furious woman who is friends with one of the victims. She gave an impressive performance as if she had a personal rancor against Weinstein or someone.

As for the 2019 flick Bombshell, it got nominated for three Academy Awards, nevertheless, the 2022 one received no Oscar nominations. I suspect that many of the Academy Award members still feel an obligation for Weinstein and think deep down that sexual harassment is okay to some extent. Top Gun: Maverick and Elvis, which I watched at theaters, have gotten nominated for the 2023 Academy Award for Best Picture, which has made me feel delightful. Other Oscar-nominated films must be more wonderful than She Said.

シー・セッド

『SHE SAID/シー・セッド その名を暴け』

ドラマ映画。2022年公開。135分。マリア・シュラーダー監督作。主演はキャリー・マリガンとゾーイ・カザン。原作は2019年に出版されたミーガン・トゥーイーとジョディー・カンター共著のノンフィクション『その名を暴け－#MeTooに火をつけたジャーナリストたちの闘い－』。2023年１月と２月にMovix亀有にて観覧。

自身の性犯罪の数々をもみ消してきた映画界の大物プロデューサー、ハーヴェイ・ワインスタイン、を告発すべく奔走するニューヨーク・タイムズ紙の二人の記者の物語。

観賞前は、『プロミシング・ヤング・ウーマン』ではレイプ犯を擁護する女性を含めた仲間たちに復讐する役を童顔ながら全うしていたが、キャリー・マリガンが果たして本作の巨悪に挑む役を演じられるのかな、と思っていたが、それは杞憂に終わった。彼女は、可愛らしさを保ちつつもしなやかな強さや大胆さを見事に表出していた。特に、バーで男にナンパされる場面でのＦワードを連発する姿には惚れ惚れした。

単なる男女間の対立ではなく、その卑劣漢を擁護する、女性を含めた彼の取り巻きたちや、彼を守り続けた法システムに挑んだ、そして、グウィネス・パルトローやアシュレイ・ジャッドのような大物俳優を含めた、長年沈黙を強いられた被害女性の方々の屈辱感を払拭すべく立ち上がったニューヨーク・タイムズ紙の闘い。夫たちや会社の上司たちに支えられながら、被害者たちへの取材を不屈の精神で粘り強く続けたミーガン・トゥーイーとジョディー・カンター。二人を演じたキャリーとゾーイ・カザンがそれぞれ凛々しくて魅力的だ。そして、上司たちとギリギリまで確認し合った告発記事が投稿される時のクリックにカタルシスを感じた。

サマンサ・モートンも被害女性の友人役で出演。ワインスタインに恨みがあるのか、はたまた、似たような経験があったのか、心に残る迫真の演技だった。

2019年作の『スキャンダル』はアカデミー賞の３部門にノミネートされたが、映画人の多くがまだワインスタインに恩義を感じているのか、多少のセクハラ行為は是だとまだ内心思っているのか、本作は全部門でノミネートすらされていない。観覧した『トップガン マーヴェリック』や『エルヴィス』のノミネートは嬉しかったが、ほかのオスカー候補の作品もまた『シー・セッド』より素晴らしいのだろう。

Double Jeopardy

Double Jeopardy

A suspense movie. Released in 1999. 105 minutes. Bruce Beresford directed it. Starring Ashley Judd. Tommy Lee Jones also appears in it. I have watched it several times only on television screens.

It follows a woman who is falsely accused, imprisoned and paroled to a house under the supervision of her parole officer. After that she struggles to take her child back.

Ashley Judd had starred in Kiss the Girls released in 1997 playing a woman with an anxious face well. Then, two years later, she gave a wonderful performance as a strong mother named Libby who makes up her mind to fight alone for her son. The beautiful performer looked dignified and played stunts. The flick was filled with her charm.

Although Judd looked pretty with a good performance and favorably compared with Charlize Theron, Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez, yet she did not become a super star, unlike them. I had thought that it was because she was just unlucky, however, I knew one of the reasons when I watched She Said, in which she made a cameo, last and this month at a theater. The reason upset me. She lost her opportunities to appear in films because she offended Harvey Weinstein, a film producer with a huge influence in the industry, who abused female actors desiring to get an acting job and his female subordinates repeatedly and sexually and he hushed up all of his crimes for a long time. I am completely disgusted with the sex maniac who prevented her from getting a good role because she did not accept his lust. The sexual criminal destroyed the lives of Judd and many women. The nasty guy's defenders including some women are also shameless and fool.

Tommy Lee Jones also gave a good and mature performance as the parole officer, Travis. He was 53 years old when it was released. Although he looked relatively older than Tom Cruise when he starred at the age of 53 in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, yet it was because Cruise looked too young for his age. Jones vigorously made a dead run and swam. He looked far more powerful and awesome than most of the men in the same generation as him.

The chemistry is great between Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones. The movie is good and worth watching with thrilling stunts.

冤罪で刑務所に収監された女性が、仮出所後、保護観察官の監視下に置かれつつも、自分の息子を取り戻すべく奮闘するお話。

1997年に主演した『コレクター』では陰のある女性を演じていたアシュレイ・ジャッド。本作では、息子の為に肚を決めて孤軍奮闘する強い母親リビーを好演。アクションもこなすその姿が凛々しくて美しい。彼女の魅力が詰まった作品だ。

ジャッドは、シャーリーズ・セロンやキャメロン・ディアス、アンジェリーナ・ジョリー、そして、ジェニファー・ロペスにも引けを取らない演技力と美貌の持ち主にもかかわらず、彼女たちレベルの大スターにはなっていない。それは単純に運が無かっただけと思っていたが、先月と今月観覧した、ジャッドが本人役でカメオ出演している『SHE SAID/シー・セッド その名を暴け』でその理由の一つを知って腹が立った。部下の女性たちや仕事が欲しい女性の俳優に対して、長年に渡って性暴力を繰り返してきて、その犯罪をもみ消し続けてきた、超大物映画プロデューサーのハーヴェイ・ワインスタインの機嫌を損ねたジャッドは、映画の出演機会を失っていたらしい。そんな卑劣漢の性欲なんかの為に彼女の仕事が減ってしまっていた、だなんて本当に許せない。彼女以外にも、人生を無茶苦茶にされた犠牲者の方々も大勢いらっしゃるようだ。その下衆野郎を守ってきた女性も含めた彼の取り巻きたちは恥知らずで愚かだ。

トミー・リー・ジョーンズもまた保護観察官のトラヴィスを渋く好演している。公開時53歳。同じく53歳で『ミッション：インポッシブル／ローグ・ネーション』の主演をこなしていたトム・クルーズと比べると明らかに年を取って見えるが、それはクルーズの若々しさが異常なだけ。劇中のジョーンズは、全力疾走したり泳いだりと元気いっぱいで、同年の一般男性よりははるかに力強いし断然カッコいい。

ジャッドとジョーンズの相性が抜群の、アクション映画の要素が強い、観応えのある良作。

A superhero movie. Released in 2002. Directed by Sam Raimi. Starring Tobey Maguire. A sequel to Spider-Man. I have watched it several times only on the television screen.

It follows Peter Parker who has had a superhuman power since he was bit by a special spider while attending a high school and fights as the superhero Spider-Man against the villains.

Peter starts to waver between loving his beloved, Mary Jane, and acting as Spider-Man and he loses his superhuman power. He takes priority over living as a young man for a while, however, he is told by his aunt, May, about what a hero needs to be and he prepares to act as Spider-Man anew. I felt catharsis when Peter says to himself, "Strong focus on what I want," jumps down from the rooftop of a building, realizes that a superhuman power comes back to himself flying and shouts, "I'm back!" I also want to be a man who never escapes from what I must do in front of myself even if I do not have such great power.

Kirsten Dunst as May Jane does not look cute that much in Spider-Man but she does more fascinating in the sequel which was released just two years later. I was remembering Rooney Mara who becomes really beautiful halfway in Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot when I watched Dunst in the second film for the first time. Rumor has it that Rooney started to date with the lead, Joaquin Phoenix, in the shooting of the drama film. She married Phoenix after it was released and gave birth to their baby boy. Although I was not concerned with the couple at all, yet I wished the family happy when I heard that the baby was named River. As for Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, rumors says that they dated each other in the filming of the first one but in fact, they did not in the second one. Dunst appears more pretty in the sequel not because she did not fall in love with Maguire but because she started to simply become glamorous as an adult woman. She is more charming in the third one. I do not have an eye for women for real.

The friendship between Peter and Harry. The romance between Peter and MJ. The relationship among the three characters is worth watching in the good action flick.

『スパイダーマン２』

スーパーヒーロー映画。2002年公開。サム・ライミ監督作。トビー・マグワイア主演。『スパイダーマン』の続編。劇場観覧は無いが、テレビ画面で何度か観ている。

高校生の時に特殊な蜘蛛に刺されて超人的な肉体を手に入れたピーター・パーカーが、大学生になってもスーパーヒーロー、スパイダーマンとして悪者と闘うお話。

想いを寄せるメリー・ジェーンとの関係とスパイダーマンとしての活動のどちらを優先すべきか悩み始めた時、超人的な能力を失ってしまうピーター。一青年としての生活を優先する事に一度は決めるも、アンおばさんからヒーローの在るべき姿を教えられて、スパイダーマンとして活動する覚悟を新たにする。「自分の望む事に集中する」とつぶやいてビルの屋上から飛び降りる際に超人的な身体能力が蘇った事を悟って「戻った！」と叫ぶ姿にカタルシスを感じる。そして、「大いなる力」なんか無いが、私も常に目の前のやるべき事から逃げない人間でありたいと思う。

前作ではあまり綺麗には見えなかったメリー・ジェーン役のキルスティン・ダンスト。本作では、前作からたった２年しか経っていないのに、かなり魅力的に感じる。本作の初観賞時は、ダンストを観ながら、『ドント・ウォーリー』で途中からものすごく可愛くなったルーニー・マーラを思い出していた。ルーニーは、その映画で共演したホアキン・フェニックスと撮影中に交際を始めたと言われていて、その後、彼と結婚して男児を出産。その子がリバーと名付けられたと知った時は、他人事ながら、幸せになってほしい家族だなと思った。トビー・マグワイアとキルスティン・ダンストはと言えば、１作目の撮影時は交際していたらしいが、実は、本作の撮影時には既に別れていたらしい。キルスティンがより綺麗に見えるのは、トビーに恋していたからではなく、単に大人の女性として魅力的になり始めただけだったようだ。そして、彼女は３作目でもより魅力的になっている。私には本当に女性を見る目が無い。

ピーターとハリーの友情。ピーターとMJの恋の行方。３人のドラマも観応えがあるアクション映画の良作。
