Teen Spirit

In January 2020, I watched the movie Teen Spirit at Movix Kameari. The movie tells the success story of a country girl who was born and raised in an island of England. Elle Fanning playing the girl was cute, cool and beautiful, yet not so enticing maybe because she was just 20 years old at that time. Anyway, charming was the little sister of Dakota Fanning. 

Some viewers described the coming-of-age drama movie as the promotion video of Elle Fanning because she keeps on appearing from beginning to end and often sings coolly and passionately. The description is very appropriate. I agree with that. The movie must fully satisfy fans of her. I, of course, am one of them. 

The film was fun over all. In a word, stylish. Elle Fanning was good at not only playing but also singing. She never bored me through. She also looked innocent and feminine. 

ティーンスピリット

2020年１月、Movix亀有にて『ティーンスピリット』を観覧した。イングランドの小さな島で生まれ育った女の子のサクセス・ストーリー。ヒロインを演じたエル・ファニングはダコタ・ファニングの妹。可愛らしくて綺麗でカッコよかった。当時まだ20歳。さすがに妖艶さは無いが、魅力的であった。 

映画を観た方が、「エル・ファニングのプロモーション・ビデオ」と表現しているのをよく目にする。終始画面に映っている彼女がカッコよく情熱的に歌いまくっているので、言いえて妙だと思う。彼女のファンは満足したに違いない。私もその一人。 

映画自体も面白かった。一言で言うと、スタイリッシュ。演技だけでなく歌も上手いエル・ファニング。純粋そうで女性らしさが溢れてて、最後まで見飽きる事は無かった。 

Ford v Ferrari #1

In January 2020, I watched the movie Ford v Ferrari at Movix Kameari. I do not drive a car, so I did not know most of the car terms in the movie but I could enjoy it more than enough. Car maniacs must get addicted to it. I was quite moved. 

I was really impressed with the acting of Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby who struggles to win car races as the leader of the Ford team and suffers from getting caught between the Ford executives and an eccentric driver of his team. Christian Bale surely gave a wonderful performance as Ken Miles who is an auto technician and a racer who follows his heart. I, however, felt that the role of the race driver with free spirit seemed easier than the one of the leader of the race team who often gets in the difficult situation where he has to resist the snobbish Ford executives and conciliate the stubborn driver at the same time. 

I was most impressed when the racer played by Christian Bale exchanged greetings with the president of Ferrari after the last race. Although the distance prevented them from exchanging words, they seemed to appreciate the way they live each other, which thrilled me. Cool are men who will stick to their own principles. I also felt that the Ferrari president was the coolest gentleman among the characters in suit. 

I was most moved when the race driver acted by the Englishman hesitated but finally made a decision as to whether he follows a direction from the vice-president of Ford. I almost cried then. 

Although I want to praise Matt Damon on the whole, yet it seems that I was more touched by the acting of Christian Bale in the end. 

フォードvsフェラーリ #1

2020年１月、フォードvsフェラーリをMovix亀有にて観覧。ペーパードライバーなので分からない言葉が多かったが、十分楽しめた。車好きにはタマらないだろう。かなり感動した。

板挟み状態に苦しみつつ、それでもレースに勝つ為に奮闘するシェルビー約のマット・デイモンの演技には心を打たれた。クリスチャン・ベールも好演していたとは思うが、自分に正直に生きている彼のマイルズ役は、フォードの重役達と対峙しつつマイルズを宥めるという難しい状況にあるシェルビー役ほど難しくはなかったのではないかと思う。

一番印象に残っているのは、レース後にクリスチャン・ベール演じるケン・マイルズとフェラーリの会長がお互いに離れた場所から目で挨拶を交わす場面。お互いの生き様を認め合ったかのような雰囲気が漂っていて、シビれた。自分の主義を貫き通す男たちは、カッコいい。背広姿のオジサン達の中で一番イカしてたのもフェラーリの会長だった。

一番胸が熱くなったのは、マイルズがレース中に出された指示に従うかどうか逡巡し、最終的に決断する場面。涙がこぼれそうになった。

称賛したいのはマット・デイモン。でも、結局、深く心に残ったのはクリスチャン・ベールの演技のようだ。

Char's Counterattack, the First 4DX Movie for Me

Hathaway, the latest installment of the Mobile Suit Gundam saga, will be released in September 2020. The main character, Hathaway Noah, appears as a boy in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack produced in 1988. 

In October 2019, I watched the old movie on 4DX at United Cinemas Toyosu, a multiplex. The film was produced more than three decades ago, but even now it is not old-fashioned at least to me. What a movie! It was the first time I watched a 4DX movie, so for the first several minutes I was puzzled by winds and nudges from the back of the moving seat, not to mention sounds, smoke and flash in the 4DX theater. I, however, gradually got used to them and could enjoy the movie to the end. 

All the same, I want to watch movies in traditional theaters.

初4DX観賞は『逆襲のシャア』

2020年７月に『ガンダム』サーガの最新作、『機動戦士ガンダム 閃光のハサウェイ』が公開される。その主人公ハサウェイは、1988年製作の映画『機動戦士ガンダム 逆襲のシャア』ではまだ少年だった。

その『逆襲のシャア』を、2019年10月、４DXでユナイテッドシネマ豊洲にて観覧した。30年以上前の作品だが、古臭く感じなかった。良い映画。初めての４DXだったので、最初の数分は動く椅子やその背もたれからの風、パンチ、そして劇場内の音、煙、光に少し戸惑ったが、徐々に慣れて楽しめた。

でも、やっぱり映画は普通に観たい。

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

In December 2019, I watched Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the last installment of the Skywalker saga, at Movix Kameari. I had been worried about whether the movie would succeed because Han Solo had died, Luke Skywalker had burned out, and Carry Fisher playing Leia Organa had passed away suddenly after Episode VIII. I, however, had worried about nothing. Daisy Ridley gave a charming and enthusiastic performance as Rey, the brave heroin, which was admirable and deserved the finale of it. 

All the same, I regret that Carry Fisher died before the film because it would have become the tale of Leia Organa if she had not expired and because she used to look good yet kind of grumpy in the original trilogy but she looked grace and dignified in Episode VII and VIII. 

Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver were not bad but could not compare with Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. I might be preferential to Luke Skywalker and Han solo because I am an old fan. 

I also was sorry that the Force was too excessive. That sometimes made me smile a little wryly. Viewers who seriously watched it might have been angry and fed up.

スター・ウォーズ／スカイウォーカーの夜明け

2019年12月、『スター・ウォーズ／スカイウォーカーの夜明け』、スカイウォーカー・サーガの最終作をMovix亀有にて観覧した。ハンが死に、ルークも燃え尽き、そして、レイア役のキャリー・フィッシャーも他界していたのでどうなることかと観賞前は思っていたが、杞憂に終わった。可愛らしくも勇敢な主人公レイを演じ切ったデイジー・リドリーの熱演が素晴らしく、このサーガのフィナーレにふさわしいものであった。 

しかし、キャリー・フィッシャーがまだ生きていたらレイアの物語になるはずだった事を思うと、彼女の急逝が惜しまれる。若い頃は性格が悪そうなまあまあの美人だったが、今シリーズでは良い感じに歳を重ねた素敵なオバ様になっていただけに。

オスカー・アイザックやアダム・ドライバーも悪くはなかったが、マーク・ハミルやハリソン・フォードと比べると少し物足りない。これはオールドファンの贔屓目だろうな。

あと、フォースが万能過ぎて笑ってしまった。真面目に観覧していた方々は、腹が立ったかもしれない。

Generation Gaps #1

Some days after I watched Solo, I talked to a co-worker of mine in my workplace about the film and the Star Wars prequel trilogy produced by Disney, for I knew that she loved the Disney films. She, however, said that she did not have a curiosity about the Star Wars films that George Lucas did not engage in. I told her that I got nostalgic and impressed when I watched each old actor appear with a great aura, who used to play its character in the original trilogy. She still seemed indifferent and said that she liked the prequel trilogy, which reminded me that she could watch the trilogy at theaters in her youth. I honestly said that I did not felt it wonderful so much. I especially disrespected Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. This is my bad habit; I say something unnecessary. My remarks seemed to hurt her memories. She grumpily said that I had bad chemistry with her. I said as an excuse that I watched the original trilogy at theaters in my teens, so I had a strong fondness for it more than the prequel one. That, however, did not soothe her. It was a generation gap between us, I said, too, which did not work. I talked to her about the Star Wars movies because I just wanted to get along with her at work, so I became sad. 

She is married with children and has to do parenting and housework every day, so she often looks tired and grumpy. Now, I talk to her only when she seems fine and I have avoided talking about the prequel trilogy in front of her since that time. 

ジェネレーション・ギャップ #1

映画『ハン・ソロ』を観覧した数日後、その作品と『スター・ウォーズ』エピソード7-9がディズニー製作であった為、ディズニー作品が好きな職場の同僚にその映画たちをどう思うか聞いてみた。だが、ジョージ・ルーカスが関わっていない『スター・ウォーズ』作品には興味が無いとの返答。そんな彼女に、エピソード4-6のキャラクター達を久しぶりに観た時にすごく懐かしくなった事や、彼らがそれぞれ放っていたオーラに感動した事を話したが、何も響かず、逆にエピソード1-3は好きと言い出した。彼女は一回り若い世代。正直に、その３作品はそんなに好きじゃないと伝え、特にアナキン・スカイウォーカーを演じていたヘイデン・クリステンセンを批判した。悪い癖だ。つい余計な事を口にする。思い出を貶されたと感じたのか、彼女は、不機嫌そうな口調で、あなたとは気が合わないと私に言い放った。取り繕う為に、10代の頃にエピソード4-6を映画館で観た世代なので、エピソード1-3よりもはるかに思い入れがあるんです、と言って、これはジェネレーション・ギャップですね、とも付け足したが、彼女は不機嫌なままだった。仕事上の付き合いを円滑にしたくて話しかけただけだったのだが、悲しくなった。 

彼女は子持ちの既婚者。毎日、家事と育児に追われ度々疲れた顔で不機嫌そうにしている。あの日以来、機嫌の良さそうな時だけ話しかけるようにしていて、エピソード1-3の話は間違ってもしていない。

Solo: A Star Wars Story #1

In July, 2018, I watched Solo: A Star Wars Story at Movix Kameari. The movie was fantastic. It never bored me. The main character, Han Solo, was always optimistic, positive and defiant, which fascinated me and sometimes made me smile naturally. It was such fun that on the next morning I did not want to go to work and I wanted to bask in the afterglow of it. 

Sadly, it has low ratings among the Star Wars fans. I do not understand that, so I try to think of it this way. Some people criticize anything. I have also convinced myself that some people always split hairs. 

I, however, felt pleased when I noticed that Hiroshi Shinagawa, who is a famous comedian and movie director in Japan, tweeted that it was very amazing. I had not been a fan of him but I have liked him.

ハン・ソロ #1

2018年７月、映画『ハン・ソロ／スター・ウォーズ・ストーリー』をMovix亀有にて観覧した。映画は素晴らしかった。全く退屈しなかった。主人公ハン・ソロは常に楽観的で、前向きで、大胆で、その言動に魅入られたし、彼の時折のやんちゃぶりに思わず笑顔にもなった。あまりに楽しかったので、その余韻を楽しみたくなり、翌朝、仕事に行くことが億劫にもなった。 

悲しいことに、この作品はスター・ウォーズファンの間では人気が無いようだ。個人的には理解出来ない。何に対しても批判する人はいるし、些細なことにこだわる人間はどこにでもいる、と思うことにしている。 

だが、芸人で映画監督でもある品川祐が「ちゃんとおもしれえ」とツイートしていたのには救われた。彼のファンではなかったが、今はなりつつある。 

About Jedi, Newtypes and Akira

In May 2018, I watched Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin VI - Rise of the Red Comet at Movix Kameari following Star Wars: The Last Jedi that I watched one month before. The story about Char Aznable was fun and gave me nostalgia. Of course, Char was super cool as always. 

I have loved Mobile Suit Gundam as well as Star Wars since I was a boy. Especially, Newtypes and Jedi in the stories have intrigued me because of their supernatural powers. 

For the same reason I also have loved Akira which I watched at Meguro Cinema in August 2018. I then thought anew that it was really fun. 

At that time, the movie theater was running double-feature films, another one of which was Harmagedon released in 1983, whose animation director is Rintaro. I had watched the film in a theater as a teenager and I liked it, however, I watched it on the day and felt that it was no longer fun, as well as Galaxy Express that Rintaro also directed. It at least gave me huge nostalgia, though. I seem to totally lose the mind of a child.

ジェダイ、ニュータイプ、そして、アキラ

2018年５月、当時の『機動戦士ガンダム』最新作、『オリジン６』をMovix亀有にて観覧した。赤い彗星、シャア・アズナブルの物語。面白かったし、懐かしかった。そして、シャアは相変わらずイカしてた。 

『スター・ウォーズ』と『ガンダム』は、子供の頃から好きだ。特に、特別な力を持ったジェダイやニュータイプに惹きつけられる。 

同様に『アキラ』のファンでもある。2018年８月に目黒シネマにて観覧した際に面白さを再認識。同日、同時上映されていた1983年製作の『幻魔大戦』も観賞。その監督はりんたろう。公開当時劇場観賞した際は面白いと思ったが、再観覧時は、ただ懐かしかっただけで、同じくりんたろうが監督した『銀河鉄道999』同様面白く感じなかった。子供の心をすっかり失ったようだ。 

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

In February 2018, I watched Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi at Movix Kameari, a multiplex in Katsushika Ward. I was kind of nervous because it was the first time in more than 20 years I watch a movie on a big screen. 

I had not watched movies at theaters until then in order to save money on watching films on a big screen by renting VHS tapes and DVDs. Furthermore, I had scarcely enjoyed them even on TV and PC displays for about seven years so as to gain time to study translation. Yet, Episode VII, which I watched some days earlier, was impressed and made me desire to watch Luke Skywalker on a movie screen for the first time in 34 years. 

It was really fun but it has a low rating among the Star Wars fans. As for science fiction and action movies, however, I just want to delight in them and hardly hope that they are deep and elevated, basically. Exceptional are Blade Runner and Akira. I try to ignore its low ratings anyway. 

Also, arguing with movie addicts are troublesome and annoys me. I am just a fan who wants to chat about movies. 

スター・ウォーズ／最後のジェダイ

2018年２月、Movix亀有にて『スター・ウォーズ　エピソード８／最後のジェダイ』を観覧した。劇場観賞は20数年ぶりだったので、少し緊張した。 

それまでは、節約の為に、自宅で安く観れるレンタルVHSおよびDVDにて映画を観賞していて、特にそれまでの７年位は、夢である翻訳家になるまでは何かを我慢すべきと思い、TVでの映画観賞も控えていた。だが、観覧の数日前にDVDで観賞した『エピソード７』に感銘を受け、ルーク・スカイウォーカーを久しぶりに大画面で観たくなり、劇場観賞するに至った。 

この作品はファンの間では評価が低いようだが、面白かった。そもそも、アクション映画やSF映画は楽しめればいいと思うし、『ブレードランナー』や『AKIRA』のような傑作は例外だが、端から深みや高尚さは期待していない。本作の低評価については気にしないよう努めている。 

そして、熱く語りたがる映画マニアはウザいし面倒くさい。一映画ファンとしては、作品に関しては笑顔で語り合いたい。 

Star Wars: The Force Awaken

In February 2019, I watched Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awaken on DVD in preparation to watch Episode VIII at a theater. Daisy Ridley as Rey, the female lead, was charming. The appearance of the Millennium Falcon gave me huge nostalgia and really touched me. When Han Solo and Chewbacca appeared, I felt happy and smiled naturally. The most emotional moment came when Han Solo saw Leia Organa after a long time. Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in the original trilogy looked not so beautiful, but Carrie as General Leia did strong and elegant, which gave me a really pleasant surprise. The 73-year-old Harrison Ford looked young for a man in his seventies. Then, when Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker appeared toward the end, his vibrations impressed me so much that I regretted that I had not watched the movie at a theater. 

スター・ウォーズ／フォースの覚醒

『スター・ウォーズ エピソード８／最後のジェダイ』の劇場観覧前にその予習として、2018年２月、『エピソード７／フォースの覚醒』をDVDで観賞した。主人公レイ役のデイジー・リドリーを可愛いと思いつつ、ミレニアム・ファルコン号が動き出した際には懐かしさとともに感動を覚えた。そして、ハン・ソロとチューバッカが現れた時は、嬉しくなって思わず頬が緩んだ。だが、一番感動したのは、ハンとレイアの再会の場面。『スター・ウォーズ』旧３部作ではそこそこ綺麗なだけだったキャリー・フィッシャーが、素敵な婦人になっていた事は本当に嬉しい驚きだった。当時73歳のハリソン・フォードもまだ全然老け込んでいなかったし、最後に現れたルーク・スカイウォーカーもとても印象的で、本作を劇場で観覧しなかったことを悔やんだ。

The Eve of a Reunion with Han Solo, Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker

When the Star Wars prequel trilogy was being released, I had stopped watching movies at theaters for several reasons. Then, some years after that, I watched the three films on DVD for one day. Honestly, I felt that the original trilogy was far better than them. 

When Episode VII: The Force Awakens was released, I thought that I would watch it someday again on DVD. Then, while I was thinking so, Episode VIII was done, too. 

One day after that, a female colleague whose father is of my generation told me that she watched Episode VIII at a theater, which amazed her quite well. I was kind of surprised and very pleased at it because some women in their late twenties who I met before had said that they were not interested in Star Wars at all, which had strongly impressed me that it was not popular so much among the younger generation. Chatting with the young colleague also made me want to go to a theater after a long time.

ハン・ソロ、レイア姫そしてルーク・スカイウォーカーとの再会前夜

『スター・ウォーズ』エピソード１２３の公開時は、諸々の事情で劇場観賞する習慣が無く、劇場での終演の数年後に三作まとめてDVDで観賞したが、エピソード４５６程好きにはなれなかった。 

そして、2015年公開の『エピソード７／フォースの覚醒』も、いつかDVDを借りようと思いつつ、気が付いたら『エピソード８／最後のジェダイ』が公開されていた始末だった。 

そんな折、親子と言える程歳の離れた職場の女の子が、劇場観賞したエピソード８が面白かった、と教えてくれた。その数年前に出会った20代後半の女性達は『スター・ウォーズ』自体に全く興味が無く、もう若い世代には受けないんだろうなと思っていたので、その若い同僚の感想には少し驚き、嬉しくもなった。そして、久しぶりに映画館に行こうと思った。 

The Theme Songs "The Galaxy Express 999" and "Sayonara"

I watched the animated movie Galaxy Express at a theater in 2019, which only gave me nostalgia. However, I was quite impressed with the ending song "The Galaxy Express 999" that was released in 1979 and performed by Godiego. The acoustics of the theater might have affected my feelings at that time. Anyway, I love the excellent tune. Although the Exile version of it was released in 2008 and is not bad, yet the Godiego one is far better than that maybe because I have listened to it since I was impressionable.

The lyrics has the phrase "A separation is a kind of love." As a boy, I vaguely imagined that I could have the kind of experience when I grew up. So far, I have not had it yet, though. When I parted from someone, I remained calm most of the time. Although I missed some women, yet I did not felt every separation to be "a kind of love." I just might always have told myself that it was fate so that I would not be hurt. It is best to shortly forget a sad thing, anyway.

The ending song of Adieu Galaxy Express, "Sayonara," is a good song, too. I was also touched when I heard it at the theater playing the two movies on the same day. The melody is beautiful.

主題歌「銀河鉄道999」と「SAYONARA」

2019年９月に劇場観覧した『銀河鉄道999』はただ懐かしいだけだったが、エンディングで流れた同名曲には、大音響のせいもあり、とても感動した。今でもたまに聞く1979年発売のゴダイゴの名曲。2008年発売のエグザイル版も悪くはないが、多感な時期に聞いていたゴダイゴ版には及ばない。 

その歌詞の中に「別れも愛の一つ」という言葉がある。子供の頃は、大人になるとそんな別れもあるのかな、と漠然と想像していたものだが、そんな経験は未だに無い。誰かと別れる時、大抵気持ちは冷めていた。中には別れが惜しい人もいたが、「愛の一つ」と思える程の気持ちは無かった。そういう運命だった、と自分に言い聞かせて傷つかないようにしていただけかもしれない。ま、悲しい事はさっさと忘れるに限る。 

『さよなら銀河鉄道999』のエンディング曲「SAYONARA」も良い曲。同時上映していた劇場でまた感動した。メロディが美しい。

Galaxy Express

In September 2019, I watched the movies Galaxy Express and Adieu Galaxy Express at a theater for the first time in 38 years. I had lost my interest in the second one already because I had suspected that it plagiarized from Star Wars Episode V, yet I remembered that the first one touched me as a child. Moreover, when I knew the information about playing them at the theater, Meguro Cinema, I felt nostalgic and decided to watch both of them. The movies assume that humans can live forever if they get machine bodies. It is interesting, for it might become a reality in the future. After watching them, however, I felt that they were aimed at children after all. It might have been just that I totally lost the mind of a child. Anyway, I felt nothing but nostalgia and I even thought that they were old-fashioned. 

I also think that Hayao Miyazaki is great because the animated movies The Castle of Cagliostro and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind are not old-fashioned yet, though they were respectively produced just one year before and just three years after Adieu Galaxy Express. I also believe that both of them can still entertain not only children but also adults.

銀河鉄道999

2019年９月、目黒シネマにて『銀河鉄道999』と『さよなら銀河鉄道999』を38年ぶりに劇場観賞した。後者には、『スター・ウォーズ／帝国の逆襲』からのパクり疑惑があったので興味は薄れていたのだが、前者は子供の頃TVで観た際に感動した記憶があった。そして、２本同時上映されることを知った際に、懐かしさがこみ上げてきて両方観る気になった。機械化人間になれば永遠の命を手に入れることが出来る、という物語の設定は、将来的に現実になるかもしれないので興味深い。だが、観覧して感じたのは、やはり子供向けの作品であるということ。子供心を完全に失ったのか、懐かしい以外の感情は湧かなかった。また、古臭くも感じてしまった。 

後者の２年前と３年後にそれぞれ製作された『ルパン三世カリオストロの城』と『風の谷のナウシカ』はまだ古臭く感じないし、大人でも楽しめる。宮崎駿は偉大だ。

Adieu Galaxy Express under Suspicion

The animated movie Adieu Galaxy Express was released one year after the release of Star Wars Episode V. The animation film is based on the comic strip of the same name by Leiji Matsumoto. I watched both of them at theaters in those days but I was really disappointed when I knew that the relationship between the main character, Tetsuro Hosino, and his formidable rival, Faust, equals the one between Luke and Darth Vader. I then even suspected that the Adieu Galaxy Express staff plagiarized the idea in Episode V and I lost my interest in the animated movie and the TV cartoons based on the manga by Leiji Matsumoto, such as Space Battleship Yamato. 

Now, I doubt that they could change the script and story of the cartoon movie only for one year. However, although it might have been by chance, yet I was so young that I felt betrayed at that time.

疑惑の『さよなら銀河鉄道999』

『スター・ウォーズ／帝国の逆襲』が公開された翌年、松本零士原作のアニメ映画、『さよなら銀河鉄道999』が公開された。松本零士は『宇宙戦艦ヤマト』の原作者でもある。当時それぞれ観覧したが、『銀河鉄道999』の主人公星野哲郎と敵役のファウストの関係が、ルークとダース・ベイダーのそれと同じで、『スター・ウォーズ』のパクりに感じて失望し、『宇宙戦艦ヤマト』等の松本零士原作のアニメ作品全般に興味が無くなった。 

だが、今思うと、たったの一年でシナリオ等を作り変えることが出来たかは疑問。でも、偶然だったかもしれないが、当時はまだ子供だったので、裏切られた気分になった。

The Star Wars Saga

The last installment of the Skywalker saga was released. 

When the first one, Star Wars: Episode IV, was released in 1977, I was amazed and lost my interest in Space Battleship Yamato, which is a Japanese science fiction animation series and I liked at that time. Two years later, however, Mobile Suit Gundam, a Japanese televised animation series, began and intrigued me, then it made me forget about Star Wars. Yet, Episode V in 1980 was amazing, too. I was especially impressed when I knew the relationship between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. I became a fan of it again. Then, three years later, I delighted in watching Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

スター・ウォーズ・サーガ

『スター・ウォーズ』のスカイウォーカーの物語の完結編が公開された。 

１作目の『エピソード４』が公開された時は、とても面白く感じて、当時好きだった宇宙戦艦ヤマトがつまらなく感じ始めた。だが、その数年後にTV放映が始まった『機動戦士ガンダム』に夢中になって『スター・ウォーズ』も霞んでしまったが、その後に公開された『エピソード５／帝国の逆襲』が素晴らしく、特にルークとダース・ベイダーの関係には驚かされ、再びファンになり、３年後の『エピソード６／ジュダイの帰還』にも魅せられた。 

40年以上におよぶスカイウォーカーの物語の完結には感慨深いものがある。 

Greetings

The disaster of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 reminded me that I was living in an earthquake-ridden country where anyone can be killed anytime, so I then decided to live without regret and go after my dream of becoming a translator, for I had liked American movies and Western music since I was a child. The dream, however, has not come true yet. I have kept on failing to pass exams on translation. I might lack of talent or I actually have not been serious so much. Now, I have realized that although I cannot translate someone's stories as a pro, yet I can do mine. That is why I have begun this blog. I also hope that this will brush up my English skill. 

あいさつ

2011年の東日本大震災における大惨事で、死と隣り合わせの地震大国に住んでいる事を再認識。悔いの無い人生を送ろうと思い、洋画や洋楽が子供の頃から好きだったこともあり、なりたいと思っていた翻訳家を志したが、トライアルに落ちまくり、夢叶わず現在に至る。今思うと、英語力や才能が無い上に、覚悟も足りなかったのだと思う。そこで、誰の文章も翻訳出来ないなら自分の文を訳してやろうと思い、このブログを始める事にした。英語力向上を期待しつつ。
