In March 2022, I watched Death on the Nile for the first time at Movix Kameari. The mystery
film was released in 2022 and is based on the detective novel with the same
title written by Agatha Christie in 1937. Kenneth Branagh directed it and acted
Detective Poirot.
It follows Detective Poirot who struggles to solve the
mystery of the murder cases that happen on a luxury liner.
In August 2021, I did Murder
on the Orient Express on the television set. It was based on the book with
the same name written by Christie. Branagh acted the famous detective and
directed the film. Moreover, Famous actors, such as Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley
and Michelle Pfeiffer, acted together, so it was worth watching, however, the
ending did not satisfy me so much, though it might have entertained me if I had
read the original novel or watched the old movie released in 1974. Anyway, I did not
plan to view the next one at a theater but I, after all, decided to do it because
I knew that the currently famous and gorgeous stunner Gal Gadot would appear in
it following Wonder Woman 1984. Then I
went to the theater in order to feast my eyes on her.
Although Gal was really beautiful, yet I ended up vaguely
watching the actors' acting and just viewing the drama on the screen especially
after Detective Poirot started to infer the murder cases because I could barely
keep up with the development of the story with many riddles and I was sort of
tired due to the day's work. Moreover, the show was filmed to some extent on
the assumption that the viewers had knew the story from the old one and the
novel, so it would not have been able to fully entertain a person like me who
first watched it without previous knowledge. Anyway, I think that it would
entertain the viewers many times because it has the complicated story and many famous
actors. At the same time, I could recognize that I do not like mysterious
stories so much and I just want to enjoy watching actors' wonderful performances
without thinking of extra things as long as possible at theaters. Come to think
of it, I do not like magic tricks because I am basically not interested in the
gimmicks.
As for the players except for Gal, Rose Leslie impressed
me. The pretty woman looked humble but had presence. I liked the way she
devoted herself to making the Israeli stunner look better. Annette Bening as an
old lady also amazed me, for I remembered Bening as a middle-aged pretty woman
in American Beauty. Honestly, I did
not notice that the actor was her maybe because I had seen her for the first
time since a long time. I was filled with deep emotion to think that she
finally performed an elderly woman. In addition, I felt that I naturally looked
old in the mirror. I had heard that Armie Hammer had difficulties in continuing
to be an film actor due to a scandal, so I was surprised when I saw him in it. He
must have been forgiven. I will be happy if I hear the news that the sequel
to my favorite spy picture The Man from
U.N.C.L.E. will be filmed in the near future.
As I wrote, I was not satisfied with watching the film at the theater but it was good. I think that I would come to like it when I slowly and closely watch it relaxing at home with the remote control to review scenes on my hand.
