Antebellum
A thriller. 106 minutes. Released in 2020.
Directed and written by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz. Starring Janelle Monáe.
It deftly depicts discrimination that a part
of white American people has persistently had against American African people since
the times of slavery focusing on an African lady named Veronica.
The cold attitudes of white American female front
clerk and waitress in a restaurant to Veronica performed by Janelle Monáe were so real that I felt
that a sense of discrimination has been strongly rooted in the United States
until now. I felt anew that I should be always fair to others. People have their
likes and dislikes, so it cannot be helped to some extended, all the same, we
must not discriminate with a full of prejudice.
I felt that Janelle Monáe was really pretty, though I did not think so watching Hidden
Figures released in 2016. Speaking of stunners, Laura Harrier was beautiful
in the 2018 film BlacKkKlansman directed by Spike Lee. I also believed that
African women are really fascinating when African directors film.
The thriller is mysterious and bold dealing with issues
of racism.
