A Post after a Long Time

I am lazy, so I lately have not upgraded this blog. Moreover, rereading it after a long time, I noticed that I had made posts which were boring and redundant. From now on I will post sentences more freely and easily.

久しぶりの投稿

怠け者の為、投稿が滞っていた。また、この度、久々に読み返してみて、自分がいかにつまらなくて冗長な投稿をしていたことに気づいた。今後は、もっと自由な文章を気楽に投稿しようと思う。

Gran Turismo

Gran Turismo

A drama film. Based on a true story. 134 minutes. Directed by Neill Blomkamp. Starring Archie Madekwe. David Harbour and Orlando Bloom acted.

It follows a gamer of Gran Turismo, a racing simulation game, who will be a professional racer.

I watched it at a theater because I was intrigued by the true story like manga about a common person and gamer to join a real car race and obtain a professional license. I was attracted until the end by the stylish picture avoiding waste, which realistically depicts the young gamer Jann Mardenborough who is put through the mill by his trainer, Jack, trains to build up his physical strength as a car racer, survives the ordeal, finally becomes a professional, accidentally causes a car crash in a race and almost gives up. Madekwe was unfamiliar and not peculiar, so I could more focus on the tale of the real Jann Mardenborough. As for the actors. I loved David Harbour as the tough trainer, Jack, though Orlando Bloom also has a presence. My eyes were caught by how the rugged Jack enthusiastically teaches and strongly encourages Jann with affection entrusting the dream that the trainer could not achieve when he was a racer to the young man. I was fascinated by the air that Harbour can create.

Although Ford v Ferrari touched me more, yet the success story intrigued me.

グランツーリスモ

レーシングシミュレーションゲーム、グランツーリスモのゲーマーがプロのレーサーになるお話。

一般人のゲーマーが実際のレースに挑戦してプロのライセンスを獲得するという漫画のような実話に興味が湧き観覧。ゲーマーだった若いヤン・マーデンブローの、トレーナーのジャックにしごかれながら、レーサーとしての体力を身に付けつけるべく体を鍛えつつ数々の試練を乗り越えてプロにはなれたものの、その後、クラッシュ事故を起こして挫折しかけるといった姿が、無駄を省いたスタイリッシュな映像でリアルに描かれていて、最後まで惹きつけられた。ヤン役のアーチー・マデクウィが有名ではなくて癖のある俳優でも無かったので、実在するヤンの物語に集中できたのもよかった。役者の中で好感が持てたのは、オーランド・ブルームも存在感はあったが、やはり、鬼トレーナーのジャックを演じたデヴィッド・ハーバー。レーサー時代に叶えることが出来なかった夢をヤンに託した、武骨な男ならではの愛ある熱血指導や叱咤激励をする姿にずっと目を奪われた。彼だから醸し出せる雰囲気に酔いしれた。

『フォードｖｓフェラーリ』ほどの感動とまではいかなかったものの、面白いサクセスストーリーだった。 

Barbie

A comedy movie. 114 minutes. Released in 2003. Directed by Greta Gerwig. Starring Margot Robbie.

It follows a stereotypical Barbie, who is happily living in the fantasy world, Barbieland, suddenly thinks about death, goes to the real world and knows about the truth.

I was born to my mother always complaining that women are at a disadvantage and my father occasionally shouting that you will shut your mouth, woman and boys, so I have been kind of sensitive to sexual discrimination. Although I thought that I did not like Ms. Yoko Tajima who my mother admired and who I thought of as interesting but dubious, yet I have started to realize that the discrimination has changed in the United States little by little after I saw Bombshell and Promising Young Woman some years ago. As well as Olivia Wilde, the director of Don't Worry Darling, Greta Gerwig, who directed Lady Bird, Little Women and Barbie, makes me ponder about the feminist movement. I do not like the film because it is a kind of fantasy fiction and has a lot of pink. All the same, I agree with Gerwing's remarks about the men's groundless confidence.

As for the actors, the lead, Margot Robbie, was really pretty and fascinating, moreover, she gave a wonderful performance as well as in the previous flick Babylon. She was always brilliant.

I had heard about the news of atomic bomb mushroom clouds appearing in it before I watched it, however, the clouds did not. Closely checking about the news, they were just depicted on a social network. It is a pity to stop seeing the movie due to the fuss, though we should not make light of antinuclear movements.

バービー

『バービー』

コメディ映画。114分。2023年公開。グレタ・ガーウィグ監督作。マーゴット・ロビー主演。

おもちゃの世界のバービーランドで楽しく生きていたバービーが、死について考え始めたのを機に現実世界に行って真実を悟るお話。

「女子供は黙ってろ」と怒鳴る父と、「男社会のこの国では女は損」とよく愚痴ったり嘆いたりしていた母の子供だったので性差別には割と敏感に育ってきた。そんな私には、母が敬愛していた田島陽子先生は、面白いけど何か従えないな、と思っていたが、ここ数年で観覧した『スキャンダル』や『プロミシング・ヤング・ウーマン』といった作品から、性差別もアメリカでは少しずつ変わり始めてきているのを感じ始めていた。そして、『レディ・バード』、『ストーリー・オブ・マイライフ』と本作を監督したグレタ・ガーウィグは、『ドント・ウォーリー・ダーリン』を監督したオリヴィア・ワイルド同様、女性解放問題について深く考えさせてくれる女性だ。本作は、ファンタジー物で色もピンク過ぎたので個人的には好みではないが、それでも、虚勢を張る男たちへの彼女の意見には共感した。

出演者に関しては、主演のマーゴット・ロビーが、前作の『バビロン』と同様に、本当に美しくて艶やかで演技もまた素晴らしかった。終始輝いていた。

公開前に耳にした原爆のきのこ雲は本編には現れず。観覧後に詳しく調べてみたらSNS上の話であった。反核の精神は忘れるべきではないが、あんな騒ぎで本作の観覧を止めるのはもったいない話だ。

A drama film based on a true story. 128 minutes. Released in 2013. Directed by Brian Helgeland. Starring Chadwick Boseman. Harrison Ford appears.

It follows Jackie Robinson who was bravely struggling to play in the 1947 Major League where the players were all white.

I felt as if it asked me what to do when a person who does nothing wrong are unreasonably attacked. Although some white baseball fans thought that discrimination is wrong and that everybody deserves the chance to play in the league, yet it was painful to watch most of them heaping abuse on Robinson. Now, many non-white players have become Major Leaguers thanks to Jackie Robinson's great achievement. I am deeply moved thinking that.

Chadwick Boseman gave a wonderful performance as Robinson, a man of pride and fortitude. I was really touched by how he continues to restrain his anger. Harrison Ford also played well the role of an MLB team owner who encouraged Robinson in adversity. It made me imagine that Harrison might have been in the similar situations in the film industry.

A wonderful baseball film. 

42～世界を変えた男～

『42～世界を変えた男～』

ドラマ映画。実話。128分。2013年公開。ブライアン・ヘルゲランド監督作。チャドウィック・ポーズマン主演。ハリソン・フォード出演。

白人だけでプレイされていた1947年の大リーグに黒人として果敢に挑んだジャッキー・ロビンソンの物語。

何も悪い事をしていない人が理不尽に攻撃されている時、君はどうする、と問われた気がした。中には差別を快く思っていなかったりチャンスは公平に与えられるべきだと思う白人たちもいたようだが、ロビンソンさんへの白人からの罵詈雑言は見ていて本当に辛かった。そんな彼の偉業のおかげで多くの白人ではない選手たちが大リーガーになっている事を思うと本当に感慨深い。

チャドウィック・ポーズマンが誇り高き不屈な男ロビンソンさんを好演。怒りを抑え続ける姿には本当に感動した。そして、ハリソン・フォードもまた耐えるロビンソンさんを励ます球団のオーナーを好演。あんな状況が映画業界でもあったんだろうな、と想像させられた。

素晴らしい野球映画。

Antebellum

A thriller. 106 minutes. Released in 2020. Directed and written by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz. Starring Janelle Monáe.

It deftly depicts discrimination that a part of white American people has persistently had against American African people since the times of slavery focusing on an African lady named Veronica.

The cold attitudes of white American female front clerk and waitress in a restaurant to Veronica performed by Janelle Monáe were so real that I felt that a sense of discrimination has been strongly rooted in the United States until now. I felt anew that I should be always fair to others. People have their likes and dislikes, so it cannot be helped to some extended, all the same, we must not discriminate with a full of prejudice.

I felt that Janelle Monáe was really pretty, though I did not think so watching Hidden Figures released in 2016. Speaking of stunners, Laura Harrier was beautiful in the 2018 film BlacKkKlansman directed by Spike Lee. I also believed that African women are really fascinating when African directors film.   

The thriller is mysterious and bold dealing with issues of racism.

アンテベラム

スリラー映画。106分。2020年公開。監督と脚本はジェラルド・ブッシュとクリストファー・レンツ。ジャネール・モネイ主演。

奴隷制度があった時代から続く、アメリカにおける一部の白人の黒人に対する強烈な差別意識がアフリカ系女性ヴェロニカを軸にしてトリッキーに描かれている。

ホテルのフロントやレストランのウエイトレスとして働く白人女性の、ジャネール・モネイ演じるヴェロニカへの冷たい態度がやたらリアルで、かの国ではまだ差別意識が今でも根強く残っていることが窺えた。そして、常に公平な目で周りを観るべきと改めて思った。好き嫌いは誰にでもあるからある程度は仕方がないが、やはり、偏見に満ちた差別はいけない。

2016年公開の『ドリーム』では全くそう思わなかったが、ジャネール・モネイが本当に美しい。そう言えば、2018年公開のスパイク・リー監督作の『ブラック・クランンズマン』に出ていたローラ・ハリアーも美しかった。アフリカ系の監督が撮るアフリカ系女性は本当に美しい、とも改めて思った。

人種差別問題を大胆に扱ったスリラー映画の怪作。
